Part 12: The Discerning of Spirits |

The supernatural ability to recognize, distinguish,
and evaluate the source of godly or ungodly spiritual influence
comes directly from the Holy Spirit. James and John wanted to call
down fire from heaven and incinerate a hostile Samaritan village.
Jesus rebuked them for failing to recognize what spirit was
influencing them. John would later warn Christians to “try the
spirits” because there are false prophets and cults which deny the
deity of Jesus and operate under the spirit of antichrist. True
discernment distinguishes the Spirit of God from the spirit of
error. This is essential in deliverance ministry, enabling
Christians to identify and effectively confront demonic influences.
Pastor John recounted his first encounter with demonic oppression
and how vital discerning of spirits is for deliverance and
counseling. Operating in this gift is exciting because it means you
are in God’s will and He is choosing to use you for a specific
purpose. |
