PASTORS OUTLINE

DISCIPLINE IS THE KEY TO LEADERSHIP
RLJ-638

November 15, 1998

From the time of Adam and Eve, the cry of children has been. Why do we have to obey? It is hard to keep all requirements! No other children have to do what you require of me! Let me make my own choices.

Here is what God said to Moses? Deut.6: 1-9
Discipline is the Love of God in action: Hebr. 12:1-13
Lucifer was not content with his position, he refused to obey God, he chose to rebel and became the father of all Lies. Isaiah 14:12-20; John 8:44

GOD WORKS IN ETERNIAL TIME! Isaiah 55:8-11
God needed a man to lead his people out of Egypt. God raised up a baby boy called Moses, Exodus 2:1-2
God had him raised in the midst of evil. verses 3-10
Then God forced him to fee into the desert. v. 11-15
God provided a place and a wife for Moses. v. 16-22
40 years In Egypt, 40 years in the desert and 40 years as a man of God: Acts 7:20-30
Moses did not look for God. God came looking for Moses! Exodus 3:1-18

What Moses planned: An easy exit, a nice short pleasant trip to the land of Canaan, respect from the people, and a nice retirement.

What God planned: To punish Pharaoh (Ex.14:13-28); to clean up the people of Israel, to train them in obedience, to build their faith, to build a nation, to preserve the written word of God, to bring forth the Messiah some 2000 years later, and to prepare Moses to be a part of that great plan! Matt. 17:1-3; Luke 9:28-36

AS A LEADER MOSES HAD TO LEARN TO STAY FOCUSED Ex. 18:13-27
When God told Moses to build a tabernacle (tent) he could have told him to prepare a tent with four plain walls and a roof. But instead God was more than elaborate, when he told Moses how to manufacture the tabernacle – Exodus 26: 1-37
Why? To teach obedience without asking any questions!
Satan could not submit himself to God. Ezekiel 28:14-19
God's people must learn to submit and obey at all times. Moses had to learn that the hard way, Numbers 20:1-12
Moses could not enter the Promised Land - he had to pay for his disobedience!
Deut. 31:1-2; 32:48-52
But when he died, he had been disciplined, he had accepted the discipline and he was forgiven. Deut. 34:1-12

Today Jesus is asking you if you love him? John 14:6

Do you love Jesus?
