UNDERSTANDING
THE KINGDOM OF GOD
THE BOOK OF REVELATION
- PART 21 By John S. Torell
December 15, 2002
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Verses 1 - 2:
Many ministers are speaking of the love of God, but
they are deliberately omitting speaking on the subject of God’s wrath against
sin. In order for us to understand this chapter of judgment, we need to read Leviticus
26: 1-39. God is love but he is also a
God of wrath. In this chapter fifteen we are learning about the last judgments
from God against a sinful human race.
Verses 3 - 4:
God is not sentimental. He is compassionate and full
of grace and mercy, but there comes a time when the time of grace will end! This
will happen not only in the end times, but also to individuals during their
lifetime on this earth.
The saints of God who are at this time
in heaven before the throne of God, no longer have pity on the sinners on the
earth, instead they are rejoicing before God that judgment finally is coming
upon the rebellious human race.
Abraham was a righteous man, who had
compassion for people. He interceded for the people living in Sodom and Gomorrah
- Genesis 18:16-33,
but when judgment fell upon the two cities, Abraham did not become bitter, he
knew that the people living in these cities had received what they deserved. Genesis
19:23-29
As believers in Christ it is hard for
us to see the suffering around us, but we must come to the realization that
there are certain people who will not repent and seek God, and when judgment
falls upon them, we must understand that they deserved the judgment they
received . Hebrews 12:14-29
Verse 5:
The next step that God was going to
take was now revealed in heaven.
Verse 6:
The seven angels are like
executioners. They are now going to carry out God’s will, showing no mercy or
pity, but forcefully execute what God has decreed! Exodus
23:20
Verse 7:
They are now given the lethal potions,
which will be used to harm, torture and kill those men, women and children, who
have been earmarked by God to be judged.
Verse 8:
The glory of God is now revealed and
the throne room is now closed for all saints in heaven, until this phase of
judgment is completed. Why this is so, the Bible does not tell us.
If you and I really believe that what
we read in the book of Revelation is a reality and shall happen some day, should
we not then fit our lives to the plans of God?
Let us deeply think about these words
that God spoke some 2,500 years ago! Ezekiel
3:16-21
