UNDERSTANDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
PART THIRTEEN - MOSES, GOD’S MAN

11 November  2001
Miriam, the first to die of the three siblings, Moses, Aaron and Miriam. Due to her rebellion toward Moses as she aligned herself with Aaron, she was not allowed to enter into the Promised Land. At this time there is no mention that the people mourned her, which may indicate that she had lost the respect of the people.
Numbers 20:1; I Corinthians 3:11-15

At the same time a new rebellion broke out against Moses and Aaron. There was no water, and the people became enraged with Moses - Numbers 20:2-5; II Corinthians 4:3-7

This was not the first time there had been an issue over water, in the beginning of their journey from Egypt, they had experienced a water crisis - Exodus 17:1-7

The people of Israel had learned nothing. They were angry, upset and fed up with walking in the wilderness until they died. Moses and Aaron knew what to do, turn to God - Numbers 20:6; I Corinthians 10:1-4

As always, when we seek God, He is there and will help us - Verses 7-8

This time, God said to Moses, speak to the rock! But at this time Moses was angry, fed up with the people and he "ministered in anger." Verses 9-11

Moses now learned a lesson, he would never forget: Disobey God and there will be a consequence: Moses and Aaron lost their right to enter the Promised Land! Verses 12-13

Compare this command with these two: Never tamper with the Word of God!

            1. Matthew 5:16-19

            2. Revelation 22:18-21

GENERATIONAL CURSES

1. The curse of Esau : The descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob would not bless their cousins - Numbers 20:14-21

2. The curse of Benammi, the son born in incest to Lot and his youngest daughter, who became the father of the children of Ammon. Numbers 21:21-35

When it was time for Aaron to leave this earth, he had no choice, no say at all, it was just a matter of taking the last walk and recognizing that life on earth was over for him forever! Numbers 20:22-29

God was true to his Word, he took care of the enemies of Israel - Numbers 21:1-3

But the people were not thankful; they were still angry at God! After God started His judgment, people repented but many had to die - Numbers 21:4-9

As a Christian, are you thankful, content, trusting and surrendering any deceitfulness of your heart? Jeremiah 17:5-10

Let us run to our High Priest Jesus Christ and surrender it all! Hebrews 4:11-16
