TNIV & MAN
Terry Watkins
www.av1611.org

And I sought for a man among them,
. . . but I found none.
Ezekiel 22:30

Since the 60's the radical feminists have been screaming and whining that sexist, male chauvinist word 'man' has just got to go. Today, we no longer have a postman, but a letter carrier; the policeman is now a police officer; the businessman is a businessperson; a fireman is a firefighter; our garbage man is a garbage collector, chairman is a chairperson, on and on. We've just got to divorce that mean ol' sexist 'man'. He has got to go. It's gotten so bad, some have suggested renaming the city of Manchester into Personchester.

For over 500 years, the words 'man’ and ‘mankind’ were terms that neatly referenced the whole family - mom, dad, son, daughter, boy, girl, baby – it was simple. And it was effective. But today, thanks to the whining militant feminists, 'man' is quickly becoming an endangered species.

And the TNIV-NIV-NIVI translators are certainly helping the cause. . .

The TNIV web site describes their "man-removal" operation:

"Where the NIV previously used 'he,' 'man,' or 'men' to indicate all people, the TNIV, in many cases, renders these passages as 'person,' 'people' or other terminology that reflects the meaning of the original language."
(TNIV: Clarity in Contemporary English, www.tniv.info/story/clarity.php)

When the TNIV translators say, "in many cases" they aren't kidding! The TNIV exorcises that mean, ol' nasty, 'man' over 550 times [compared to the King James Bible] . Over 44% of the 'man' have been booted out of the TNIV. And 'mankind' – he just doesn't exist.

And guess what? The "original" NIV removes ‘man’ over 690 times!

What do they do with ‘Mr. man'?

Mr. man is traded for the neuter "one, you, everyone, anyone, people, person, self, etc." Or sometimes the TNIV just swallows up mean ol' man in the sentence structure. But someway, somehow, some word, any word, any way. . . just find a way – that 'man' has got to go.

Many times the end result of eliminating Mr. Man is down right hilarious. . . Some times it’s pure idiotic. . . And other times it’s just simply dumb. . . and dumber

The Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 4:19 (and also Mark 1:17) calls out Simon Peter and his brother Andrew with the famous "fishers of men" soulwinners call:.

The KJB reads in Matthew 4:19

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

But in the silly, feminist, TNIV the Lord Jesus is not calling out "fishers of men" but to "catch people". The charming soulwinner’s "fishers of men" is now perverted into a disgusting, slave-traders "catch people". Just to rid ‘men’ from the verse.

The TNIV distorts Matthew 4:19 (see also Mark 1:17):

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to catch people."

Now, where is the Rev. Jesse Jackson when we could really use him?

NOTE: The TNIV and NIV are infatuated with slavery. The barbaric, racist and insensitive word "slave" is 58 times in the TNIV and over 100 times in the original NIV.

Here’s a few more laughs . . . uh. . . I mean verses. .

2 Corinthians 4:16, KJB:
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16, TNIV:
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

NOTE: 2 Corinthians 4:16 is a description of the battle between the two natures. The new spiritual (inward man) and the old flesh (outward man). The TNIV makes the verse sound like some kind of bizarre human combustion "outwardly we are wasting away". Weird. . . The things they’ll do to get rid of "Mr. Man". Where in the world did they dig up such a goofy reading? From the "original" NIV . . . It reads the same.

1 Corinthians 3:17, KJB:
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 3:17, TNIV:
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

NOTE: The word ‘together’ has no basis in the Greek text. The verse is clearly referring to an ‘individual’ [any man], the TNIV changes the verse from an individual to a group, church, commune – ‘you together’. The TNIV teaches a false doctrine. The "original" NIV also removes ‘man’ from 1 Corinthians 3:17.

1 Corinthians 15:45, KJB:
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:45, TNIV:
So it is written: "The first Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

NOTE: ‘man’ in reference to Adam is removed, despite the Greek word ‘anthropos’ is in the text. Also soul is changed to being.

This kind of absurd, babble is performed by the TNIV-NIV translators hundreds of times.

Besides the re-wording of man being pure silly, bizarre and completely unnecessary – in many cases, it is a deliberate, intentional, mis-translation.

There are six words in the Greek text translated ‘man’; oudeis, teleios, arren (or arsen), tis, anthropos, and aner.

While the Greek words oudeis, teleios, arren (or arsen), tis, and possibly anthropos can carry ‘neuter’ meanings, the Greek word ‘aner’ can not. It is strictly male, masculine, ‘macho-macho’, man. It has no other alternative.

Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words says of ‘aner’:

"aner is never used of the female sex; it stands in distinction from a woman,"
(Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, 1985, p. 389)

The comprehensive Bauer-Arndt-Gingrich-Danker Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature defines ‘aner’ as:

"man: In contrast to woman. . . "
(Bauer-Arndt-Gingrich-Danker, Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, p 66)

The Liddell-Scott Greek-English Lexicon, says of ‘aner’:

"Man, opposed to woman."
(Liddell-Scott Greek-English Lexicon, p. 138)

Dr. Wayne Grudem, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biblical and Systematic Theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, writes concerning the Liddell-Scott definition for ‘aner’:

"The standard reference work, the Liddell-Scott Lexicon for all of ancient Greek, gives no meaning "person," but only "man, husband," and some specific variations on those. This is very significant because aner is not a rare word: it is extremely common in Greek. Thousands upon thousands of examples of it are found in Greek from the 8th century BC (Homer) onward. If any meaning "person" existed, scholars would have found many clear examples centuries ago."
(Dr. Wayne Grudem, "Can Greek aner ("man") sometimes mean "person"? No", www.cbmw.org/resources/tniv/aner.html)

Now with that kind of hard-evidence (. . .like that really matters to the TNIV-NIV-NIVI crew) what ‘magic-disappearing-act’ will the TNIV perform on the man-only ‘aner’?

They magically transform the "masculine ever-only" aner into "people, believers, friends, terrorists, them, who, those, mature, our, someone, et al" and many times they just completely ignore ‘aner’. Over 54 times they change or drop ‘aner’ from the text. The ‘original’ NIV also changes or removes ‘aner’ 29 times.

Some examples where ‘aner’ is mistranslated:

Acts 20:30, KJB:
Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Acts 20:30, TNIV:
Even from your own number some will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

NOTE: The context of Acts 20:30 are the "elders of the church" at Ephesus. Verse 17 reads, "And from Miletus he [Paul] sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church" The TNIV distorts aner to the neuter ‘some’ implying women were among the elders of the church. Now, that ought to make the radical, feminists, and Hillary shout for joy.

Matthew 12:41, KJB:
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

Matthew 12:41, TNIV:
The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

Acts 19:35, KJB:
And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

Acts 19:35, TNIV:
The city clerk quieted the crowd and said: "People of Ephesus, doesn’t all the world know that the city of Ephesus is the guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of her image, which fell from heaven?

Acts 21:38, KJB:
Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

Acts 21:38, TNIV:
"Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the desert some time ago?"

NOTE: How in the world they get ‘terrorists’ from aner beats me. Sounds like something Osama Bin Laden would dream up. P.S. This little ‘beauty; is also in the ‘original’ NIV.

Acts 23:21, KJB
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.

Acts 23:21, TNIV
Don’t give in to them, because more than forty of them are waiting in ambush for him. They have taken an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are ready now, waiting for your consent to their request."

NOTE: Why didn’t they just translate it "forty men" as the Greek text [aner] reads? Do the feminists really want to be included in this bloodthirsty mob? Oh yea, this ‘cutie’ is also in the ‘original’ NIV . . . Like mother. . . like daughter. . .?

Acts 25:24, KJB
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

Acts 25:24, TNIV:
Festus said: "King Agrippa, and all who are present with us, you see this man! The whole Jewish community has petitioned me about him in Jerusalem and here in Caesarea, shouting that he ought not to live any longer.

NOTE: The ‘men’ present in Acts 25:24 are defined as ". . . the chief captains, and principal men of the city. . ." in verse 23. Oh did I fail to mention. . . this little ‘babe’ is also in mamma ‘original’ NIV.

Romans 4:8, KJB
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Romans 4:8, TNIV
Blessed are those whose sin the Lord will never count against them."

NOTE: In order for the TNIV mis-translators to ‘neuter’ Romans 4:8, they must intentionally and incorrectly distort the subject and verb to plural. I don’t guess it matters to the TNIV group that Romans 4:8 is a quote of Psalm 32:2 referring to the MAN David, "Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, . . . "

Ephesians 4:13, KJB
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Ephesians 4:13, TNIV
until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

NOTE: I’m scratching my head on this one. . . Somehow the TNIV mis-translation from a ‘perfect man’ to ‘become mature’ lacks a little something – like the truth. ‘Become mature’ and ‘a perfect man’ is about as far apart as you can get. Guess what? Mamma (‘original’ NIV) ‘birthed’ this baby also.

In the following five verses in James; 1:8, 1:12, 1:20, 1:23, 3:2, the TNIV translators change the complete sentence structure from singular to plural, from masculine to neuter and ignore the singular-masculine Greek [aner-man-only] text. Why? Just to get rid of ‘man’. In every case the ‘masculine-only’ Greek word, ‘aner’ is intentionally mis-translated.

James 1:8, KJB
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

James 1:8, TNIV
they are double-minded and unstable in all they do.

James 1:12, KJB
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

James 1:12, TNIV
Blessed are those who persevere under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

James 1:20, KJB
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 1:20, TNIV
because our anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

James 1:23, KJB
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

James 1:23, TNIV
Those who listen to the word but do not do what it says are like people who look at their faces in a mirror

James 3:2, KJB
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

James 3:2, TNIV
We all stumble in many ways. Those who are never at fault in what they say are perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

THE HUMAN FACTOR. . .

One of the favorite "buzz words" among the new agers, feminists, and atheists, is ‘human’. The ‘human’ mantra comes in many chants; Humanist, secular humanism, human consciousness, human dimensions, human rights, human cloning, humanitarianism, The Human Potential Movement (HPM), the Humanist Manifesto, and of course, the feminist mantra – "Not female, Not male – Human".

‘Humanism’ is a religion that eliminates God and deifies man. "Man is god" is the heart-beat of humanism.

Webster's New International Dictionary defines "humanism" as:

"Contemporary cult or belief calling itself religious but substitutes faith in man for faith in God."
(cited in Cathy Burns, Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, p. 93)

The Father of Humanism is found in Genesis 3:5. When Satan, slithering in the garden of Eden, whispered the infamous "ye shall be as gods" – humanism officially began. The same deadly venom the serpent [Satan] injected into the heart of Eve, is the same poison running through the veins of humanism.

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:5

The Humanistic Manifesto II, openly proclaims:

"No deity will save us; we must save ourselves."
https://www.americanhumanist.org/about/manifesto2.html

Humanist Corliss Lamont irreverently writes:

"Humanism assigns to man nothing less than the task of being his own Saviour and Redeemer."
(Corliss Lamont, The Philosophy of Humanism, p. 283)

Humanism is the same hell-bound cry of Satanism. Church of Satan founder, Anton Lavey, states in the Satanic Bible:

"Say unto thine own heart, ‘I am mine own redeemer’".
(The Satanic Bible, Anton Lavey, p.33)

Satan’s plan is simple. Dethrone God. And making man god, is a clever battle plan. The "ye shall be as gods" lie has destroyed more lives, shed more tears, and filled the pits of hell more than any other lie. It’s the translation methodology of the TNIV, and the new perversions. "I don’t care what God says, I am man, and I-man will make God say what I-man wants God to say". It’s the same serpent-inspired, "yea, hath God said" of Genesis 3:1.

As the neuter word ‘human’ is a favorite among the new agers, feminists and atheists – it is also the "darling" among the new versions.

The TNIV translators exchange ‘man’ with the generic, new age approved and feminist inspired ‘human’ – over 120 times. The mechanical "human beings" occurs 30 times. And that’s just the New Testament. Oh by the way, the "original" NIV contains 'human' 52 times.

Let’s look at some ‘human’ verses. . .

Matthew 15:8-9, KJB
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Matthew 15:8-9, TNIV
‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’"

John 1:13, KJB
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1;13, TNIV
children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

John 2:25, KJB
And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

John 2:25, TNIV
He did not need human testimony about them, for he knew what was in them.

John 5:41, KJB
I receive not honour from men.

John 5:41, TNIV
"I do not accept glory from human beings,

John 12:43, KJB
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 12:43, TNIV
for they loved human glory more than the glory of God.

Acts 5:29, KJB
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Acts 5:29, TNIV
Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than human beings!

Romans 1:23, KJB
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Romans 1:23, TNIV
and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal human beings and birds and animals and reptiles.

Romans 3:4, KJB
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;. . .

Romans 3:4, TNIV
Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar.. . .

Romans 3:5, KJB
But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

Romans 3:5, TNIV
But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)

1 Corinthians 3:3, KJB
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

1 Corinthians 3:3, TNIV
You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere human beings?

1 Corinthians 7:23, KJB
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

1 Corinthians 7:23, TNIV
You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.

NOTE: The TNIV and NIV are infatuated with slavery. The barbaric, racist and insensitive word "slave" is 58 times in the TNIV and over 100 times in the original NIV. I thought the TNIV-NIV was inclusive and up-to-date – with slaves?

Ephesians 2:15, KJB
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Ephesians 2:15, TNIV
by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

Colossians 2:8, KJB
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Colossians 2:8, TNIV
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

Colossians 3:23, KJB
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Colossians 3:23, TNIV
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

Hebrews 2:6-7, KJB
But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

Hebrews 2:6-7 TNIV
But there is a place where someone has testified: "What are mere mortals that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor

James 3:9, KJB
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

James 3:9, TNIV
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.

2 Peter 1:21, KJB
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 1:21, TNIV
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Notice how bland, and impersonal the generic mechanical, "human" and "human being" sounds.

Now really. . . Does such a dead, impersonal language really encourage anyone to read the Bible? And these are the folks that ridicule the King James Bible as being "out of touch" and unable to speak in the common language.

The TNIV web site makes ridiculous statements like, ". . . reach today's generation with language they can understand and relate to. . . . that clearly and accurately communicates in today's language."(TNIV: Questions and Answers, www.tniv.info/QandA.php)

When the TNIV says "in today’s language" – one has to ask — have the TNIV group ever had a conversation with any "common people"? The TNIV reads like an IRS Tax booklet.

Who ‘in today’s language’ says "human being" – rather than "man". Who in ‘everyday language’ would say, "Look at that human being" versus, "Look at that man".

The Bible says in Mark 12:37, ". . .And the common people heard him [Jesus Christ] gladly." Of course, the TNIV doesn’t have any "common people" – it totally destroys the emphasize of the verse with, "The large crowd listened to him with delight."

THE TNIV’S PORTRAYAL OF SATAN. . .

In Matthew 16:23, the Lord Jesus Christ, warns of Satan’s humanist "ye shall be as gods" trickery. But the TNIV incredibly re-word the verse and describes Satan as "concerned about humans".

Matthew 16:23, KJB
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Matthew 16:23, TNIV
Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns."

Human concerns? Is the devil REALLY "concerned" about us humans? The TNIV makes Satan sound like a good guy – after all, he’s "concerned" with us "humans".

The TNIV’s portrayal of Satan comes way too close to the same satanic portrait found in new-age Theosophy. H.P. Blavatsky says Satan is human’s "real creator and benefactor" and "the ever loving messenger", "our redeemer. . . or liberator and our Saviour".

"Satan, the Serpent of Genesis is the real creator and benefactor, the Father of Spiritual mankind. For it is he . . . who opened the eyes of the automaton (Adam) created by Jehovah. . . he still remains in Esoteric Truth the ever loving messenger . . ."
(H.P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine, Vol 3, p. 246)

"And now it stands proven that Satan, or the Red Fiery Dragon, the ‘Lord of Phosphorus’ and Lucifer, or ‘Light Bearer’, is in us; . . . our tempter and Redeemer, our intelligent liberator and Saviour. . ."
(HP Blavatasky, The Secret Doctrine)

Before we leave the ‘human’ factor found in the TNIV and other gender inclusive perversions, a look at some of the other new "gender inclusive" PER versions and the book of Ezekiel is worth a laugh.

The New Century Version (NCV) has God addressing Ezekiel not with the familiar ‘son of man’, but God addresses Ezekiel with the robotic, stern "human". Look at this foolish, nonsense. This is a riot.

Here’s a sampling from Ezekiel chapters 2 and 3. . .

Ezekiel chapter 2,3:, NCV

2:1 He said to me, "Human, stand up on your feet so I may speak with you."
2:3 He said, "Human, I am sending you to the people of Israel. . ."
2:6 You, human, don't be afraid of the people or their words. . .
2:8 But you, human, listen to what I say to you. . .
3:1 Then the LORD said to me, "Human, eat what you find; eat this scroll. . .
3:3 He said to me, "Human, eat this scroll which I am giving you, . .
3:4 Then he said to me, "Human, go to the people of Israel, . . .
3:10 Also, he said to me, "Human, believe all the words I will speak to you, . .
3:17 "Human, I now make you a watchman for Israel. . .
3:25 As for you, human, the people will tie you up with ropes . . .

In the book of Ezekiel, The NCV has God addressing Ezekiel as 'human' – 96 laughable times!

The International Children's Bible (ICB) has God addressing Ezekiel as 'human being'.

Ezekiel 3:1,3, ICB

3:1 Then the Lord said to me, "Human being, eat what you find. . .
3:3 Then the Lord said unto me, "Human being, eat this scroll. . .

The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) is not much better with it's 'mortal' for 'son of man'.

Ezekiel 3:1,3, NRSV

3:1 He said to me, O mortal, eat what is offered to you; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.
3 He said to me, Mortal, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it. Then I ate it; and in my mouth it was as sweet as honey.

The gender-inclusive NRSV contains the neuter, impersonal 'human' 322 times, God's Word 176 times, NCV 249 times, New Living Bible 206 times, the International Children's Bible 163 times.

All this silly nonsense – just to get rid of the sexist 'man'.

What’s so ironic. . . These are the same people that attack the King James Bible as being out of date and too hard to understand.

And I sought for A MAN among them,
that should make up the hedge,
and stand in the gap before me for the land,
that I should not destroy it:
but I found none.
Ezekiel 22:30
